Mackenzie Wolves Announcements

The Week of March 8-12, 2010

Dear Mackenzie Wolves,

EARLY RELEASE

There will be an early release on Wednesday, March 10th.  Students will be released at 12:00.

QUARTER THREE/REPORT CARDS

Quarter three will end Friday, March 26th, and we will have only one quarter left before your eighth grader goes to high school!    As we begin quarter four, we will spend majority of our time continuing our preparations for EOGs.

Please be aware that report cards will be distributed to you during their homeroom class on Friday, April 9th.  Please keep it and return the enveloped signed to state that you have seen it.  Please put a check by the box if you would like to schedule a conference.

GUM

We have encountered a great of amount of students chewing gum on our team.  The students were told at the beginning of the year that this is a new school, and there is absolutely NO GUM CHEWING AT WENDELL MIDDLE SCHOOL!   Many students have not complied with this rule established by Mrs. Castleberry.  Due to some of the students not following the rules, we have gum on the brand new carpet and tables.  This type of behavior is unacceptable!   Please help us with this problem by talking to your child.  The Mackenzie Wolves teachers appreciate your help with this problem.

 STUDYING

Please continue to encourage your child to study and review assignments from each class nightly, turn in ALL assignments as their best work and on time, write all of their assigments in their agenda daily, and give their ALL in everything they do!  It represents them and their ability.

HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION

Parents, please make sure you have received  a SPAN account  from the guidance office in reference to your child.  Students will have to register for high school using their SPAN account, so please make sure you have an account.   Please check the Wendell Middle School website for updates.

THANK YOU

We also would like to thank those parents/guardians that have supplied items to assist our team.  We truly appreciate it!!!  As we prepare for our Mackenzie Wolves Reward New Incentive Program, we are still in need for small tokens to give to the children.  Tissue, hand sanitizer, copier paper, etc. are still needed for our team.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the Mackenzie Wolves teachers.

MISSING ASSIGNMENTS

We are still having some issues with students not turning in or completing their assignments. Wendell Middle is a zero free zone. This means that students must do all of their work, and a zero is not an option. Please discuss with your child the importance of doing their work. If they do not complete their assignments, this puts them behind and hinders their success.  If any assignment is not turned in or completed for any core class, the student will spend their lunch time completing it.

ITEMS THAT ARE NEEDED

We are in need of some items that we hope parents can donate to our team.  The items are :  copy paper, tissue, hand sanitizer, dry erase markers, and small gifts rewards for the new program for the Mackenzie Wolves.  These items will be distributed to the students on our team.

We thank you in advance for all that you do to help our team!

SPAN ACCOUNT INFORMATION

We are updaitng the SPAN accounts on Fridays with new assignments.  We had encountered some difficulties last week, but they have been corrected and quarter two assignments  should be displayed this week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.   Please review your child's account.  If you have any questions, please contact any Mackenzie Wolves teacher.

The SPAN account includes all of your child's grades for their classes, discipline referrals, attenance, etc..   If you do not have a SPAN account password, please contact Ms. Mitchell, the eighth grade counselor, for more information.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED IN CLASSROOMS

Due to some items stolen here at school, the Mackenzie Wolves team has decided to not allow students to bring their draw string bags or purses into the classes any longer.  Girls will be able to go to their locker before they go to the restroom to pick-up their purses with their personal belongings.  We do not want any other items stolen, so if their personal belongings are locked in their lockers, this should eliminate the problem.  Book bags were already not allowed in the classrooms.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding of this matter.  If you have any questions, please contact any Mackenzie Wolves teacher.

 AGENDAS

Please make sure you are viewing your child's agenda daily.  Some of the students are not adding their assignments to their agenda.

A TIP FOR STUDYING

Some students are not studying daily.  Since they are in the eighth grade, and we are preparing them for high school, all students should review all of the items they learned or discusses each day for each day.  This will allow the students to review all of the materials in each class while applying and reinforcing what they learned with their homework, vocabulary, facts, problem solving, algebra steps, grammar, lab work, etc.  This tip also helps when it is time for the assessment.  Students will not be so overwhelmed because they have studied and reviewed each day.
